We came to America in the summer of 1996. We arrived with the purpose of pursuing the great American dream, but God had other plans for my family and I. We became faithful to church and began serving the Lord in different ministries, and on January of 2001, God called me to preach.
I continued my studies at West Coast Baptist College and while in Bible College, God opened a door for me and my family to start a Filipino ministry at Pacific Baptist Church in Long Beach, CA under the leadership of Dr. Joe Esposito. God used this time to train and strengthen me and my family. On 2006, after 6 years of serving at Pacific Baptist Church, God burdened my heart to start a church in Daly City, CA.
Daly City has a population of 103, 621. Forty-four percent are Asians and Pacific Islanders and there are no independent, fundamental, Baptist church. There are no soul winning churches and no one to tell them of the Gospel. We went on deputation for four months and then started Harvest Baptist Church on February 11, 2007. By God's grace, many souls have been reached, many families have started to serve the Lord together, and many lives have been changed. To God be the glory! Please come and see the work that God has allowed us to be a part of here at Harvest Baptist Church.
It has been a great opportunity for me to work with the teenagers at Harvest Baptist Church. My heart rejoices to see the lives of teenagers transformed by the Word of God. When I see teenagers making the right decisions and living godly lives, I can almost understand what John meant when he wrote in III John, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." This is why I believe that every teenager should be part of a Biblical youth group.
I believe Harvest Baptist Youth Group has been blessed by God because we emphasize loving God and loving people. God should be number one in our lives. He deserves our uncomparable, unconditional, and unchanging love. But we also need to love people. From the poorest to the richest kid in town, we need to love them just the same. We cannot be true to the Bible if we cannot follow these two basic commandments. It is no wonder why Jesus said this is the first and second Greatest Commandments.
Our goal is to point young people to God and bring them closer to their parents. Everyone needs to know Jesus as their personal Saviour and their parents as their authority and guide. The very last verse of the Old Testament says, "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the childern to their fathers..." This is our goal in our youth group. I want to encourage you to visit us and see the work that God has given us here at Harvest Baptist Church.
